Plans are underway for me to get a second part-time job and move out of the house. Mom, Dad, and I are all excited and have already started to hoard the casted-off furniture of friends. =)

I started the job search yesterday at Restoration Hardware. The district manager of that chain of stores had been asking around for me ever since my Gap days. She was my district manager at Gap and we worked together on enough projects together to prove that I was a good worker, I guess. Another of my previous Gap managers now works at RH...she's the one who's passing on all this news to me. The only problem: The district manager wants me to take on management responsibilities...I just want a part-time job. We'll see where this one goes.

My friend Braden told me to check out the Computer Labs at UCF. So, I shamelessly asked Juan if he would check to see if there were any openings. Shameless. The labs would be a cool job, though. And I'd get to work with cool people.

Megan gave me a "real life" kick in the backside for leaving the blog for so long. =) Thanks, Meg. By the way, everyone should go sign her guest map. You get to move a little arrow around the world, so it's worth every moment that you spend on it.

This week has been ultra strange. I've been feeling "grown up" in so many different ways and it's alternatingly wonderful and horrifying. I'm probably not moving out of the house any time soon, but the feeling that I'm taking care of myself is slowly growing (because, well, I'm taking more responsibilities on). Mom also told me: "Having you here is like having any other adult rent a room from us." They even offered to let me have the one room in our house with it's own door if I want to have an "apartment" feel. That seemed to be going a little far just to cultivate a little feeling, so I politely turned her down.

Dad is away on a yearbook conference for his school that lasts all week. Mom gets antsy while he's away, so I predict that we'll be watching a lot of Meg Ryan movies this week. We started with Megan's copy of "Kate and Leopold", which is rather funny and actually smarter than a lot of romantic comedies.

I spoke with a professor from school. She gave me some pointers on picking schools and seemed to say that Texas wasn't my best option as I'd get no teaching experience or journal experience. That makes sense, but I still like the fact that I'd get three years to work on stories and scripts with no outside distractions (well, except for the fact that I'd be in Austin, "Live Music Capital of the World"--if a PR firm didn't come up with that one, I don't know who did).

I'm off to Park Avenue to get stuff done. Mom suggested that since I used to work there every day for three years, I should see if I can write on my laptop there. Something about a "work vibe". Has mom renewed her new age roots?
