It feels good to work again. Sure, writing is work, school work is work, and even getting the apartment in order is work...but there's nothing quite like moving boxes full of things from one place to another to give you a feeling of accomplishment. Countless boxes and one coffee table thing.

I joked to Sandy that it was good exercise. I was joking then. Now I'm serious...I hurt. Small muscles that I didn't know I had...well, I know I have them.

But I can't complain...all in a day's work. =)

Now that I've moved out, the parents are remodeling the house. New carpet, new tile, new paint...it's gonna look pretty cool.

At least they're not renting my room out to the plumber. =)

It's been long enough. I must get back to regular blogging. Especially now that the box that I've been waiting for arrived.

So, I got the job at Restoration Hardware! I've worked the past two days and it's been great. The people there are friendly, very professional, and willing to teach me the little things that only come after years of experience...it's nice to find a workplace that embraces "the new guy". As for the product at RH, I'm a fish out of water--I've never sold sconces before, especially not ones with names like "Seville" or "Bakerton" (both of which I just made up, although they sound completely Resto-rish). The same goes for couches, pharmacy vases (whatever those are), and drawer pulls. Alas, my company discount will not get me much--I'm working in a store where the towels are $30 each...not much chance that my paycheck will be spent there.

In other news:
I've been listening to a lot of new music lately. A few observations:
-Beth Orton's new one, "Daybreaker," is quite good. She's still got the same lilt in her dense, smooth voice...a few things are still right in the world, you know? =)
-Kylie Minogue is Olivia Newton John...we're not even talking about "channeling" or "being influenced by"...don't be fooled by the younger visage and completely different name.
-You should be listening to Doves. Really. Believe me. I'm right. But please refrain from comparing them to Radiohead, even if that comparison includes the words "OK" and "Computer".
