I just placed second in my work's daily dart game! This is actually a big accomplishment for me, considering my history with sports and the fact that I've placed last on a daily basis.

I've been playing two albums constantly this week and the artists couldn't be much more different from each other.

Half the time, I'm listening to Muse's "Absolution". I've decided that the equation to why I like Muse would be:

Radiohead * Garbage / Queen + Handel's "Messiah"

The rest of the time, I'm listening to the solo debut of Christine Dente, one half of the group "Out of the Grey." You see, while being a "Christian Music Act", OOTG rocked the better half of my adolescence. Christine Dente's voice is signature--lilting and dusky--and her husband, Scott, has one of the more unique guitar sound that I've heard.

It seems that Christine wanted to make an album to address specific things about becoming a mother and a wife, thus the solo aspect, but Scott is there to produce, sing and play...which couldn't be a better metaphor for marriage: supporting someone through their moment in the spotlight, realizing that the moment is actually a shared one.

I know that many of those who read this aren't into Adult Contemporary, but there are a few great songs on this album.

Muse:
-Apocalypse Please
-Time is Running Out
-Stockholm Syndrome
-Hysteria

Christine Dente:
-Becoming
-Bigger Story
-Gotta Go Through
-Echoes of Heaven

Maybe next time: Neko Case, Handsome Boy Modeling School

Fast Lane

Last night, after picking up a gift I ordered for Justin from an undisclosed location, I met up with Braden and a few of his work friends, including Ryan, who I'm glad to know, if not for his spiffy new T-Mobile Sidekick, then for his biting, yet enthusiastic wit. I learned one thing, in particular, from going out with this group of self-proclaimed "tech geeks" (they're the ones that keep your cable and internet running, if you live in the western part of Florida)--they can put down some alchohol...and they don't mind "moving the show" multiple times throughout the night.

Seriously, they rival some of the better single, bitter homos out there. Amazing.

Braden and I had to cut out early, so I got home and got a good night's sleep. And when I woke up, no asthma...could it be the nip of Jaeger? Only my hairdresser knows...

I sincerely love everything about this painting by my friend, Megan. I'm restraining myself from bidding so I have enough money for Christmas presents and so that Meg's edgy painting has a chance to make it out of Florida. =)

I'm trying to get better from a phantom cold/allergies/asthma thing. Lots of green tea, vitamins, and work lately. Life is good otherwise!

"We have forgotten..."

I keep pressing the wrong key combinations on my Mac to get simple tasks done. It just beeps back at me, in the tone I chose because it was the least grating at the time, but now seems to be plaintive, wishing I would remember the simple runes I used to communicate with it. The Mac would be happy to do what I ask it, if only I'd ask.

I've spent too much time at the new Windows computer at work, the one that I've been working on to meet deadlines, the one that has the newest versions of all my graphic and web design applications that I use to create user interfaces. Control-C, Control-V. Cut and paste.

The Mac knows I've been cheating.

"Control-C" I say.

The Mac responds with a sad chime, seeming to say, "Do you mean Apple Key-C?", all the while knowing where I've been for the past week.

I'm oblivious and I press Control-V, hoping to see the paragraph from the window I just closed appear in place of the blinking cursor. Nothing.

Oswald Chambers strikes again. Athiests and agnostics need not worry about not clicking--Oswald is dead and I'm not one of those people. =)
